August in Chicago
Haze blurs the horizon where there is neither end to water nor beginning of sky—only continuous Nantucket-fog, rippling pall. Cooler by the lake is non-existent, gay multi-colored sails absent from the expanse. Still, flocks of humanity, swarms of children, still, in hopes of relief.
